Americans are used to finding prostitutes in either doggy massage parlors or as online "escorts", so when planing a trip to Costa Rica it only stands to reason to check Craigslist.
The problem is that this is not the common approach in Costa Rica, and the locals have adapted to take advantage of tourists who use the Internet escort approach.
Email an "Escort Agency", and the people on the other end know that you are a Clueless Clyde.
Many of the girls on the Costa Rica craigslist are not independent providers, and are instead promoted by bilingual pimps. These are the same girls who usually get under $50 at the local massage parlor.
A tourist gets her delivered to their hotel for $200 to $300, and the driver and the pimp keep most of the cash. Frustration is also a frequent problem as an uninformed traveler has usually selected a poor Choice of Hotel. Employees at most properties in Costa Rica have become very adept at shutting down sex tourists when they attempt to direct escorts to their room.
While there are some independent girls available through craigslist the selection is very small, and these girls usually have years of experience in the local sex trade. They are also not the best in quality and know how to take advantage of the new gringo in town.
The bottom line is to come up with a plan to find the fresh talent. Prostitution is not Illegal in Costa Rica and as long as the girl is an adult there is no need to worry about getting arrested. It is totally acceptable to negotiate sex for money in a social setting like a bar or motel lobby.

pros are available in almost ever townin costa rica. Where i live in esparza there are 3 whore houses with in 2 miles of the town 2 of them in the town. the girls are just as good looking as the other places like san jose and jaco that is 45 min away. the going rate for 30 min is 10 thousand calon or about 18 USD.
Kind of gives the feel of old west in them but with regge music in the back ground. you can tell when your running low on time becasue they pipe music into the room when you have 5 min left. drinks are also cheeper at most towns then in beach towns or San Jose. also they are a lot safer, as If the girl rips you off she is a local and just knows its bad buisness.
Im going to CR in Septembre to celebrate my birthday. Im interested in going somewhere other than San Jose or Jaco beach. Where is Esparza and are there any good hotels that are safe there.. Will I be able to party in party in Esparza and crash out in San Jose if there are no good hotels there. What I really want is to find one chica to kick it with and let her make the bulk of my money. I am partial to nicas more so than ticas.
You might do better in Nicaragua. Granda is a nice city colonial city not too far from the big city where you can pick up chicas.
