The rumor that Hotel Little Havana has changed hands is at least partially true as Eddie who has managed the place for years is out.
A few of my girlfriends from HLH called me to let know of the change, and I figured it would be a good opportunity to come over and take some photos of the girls like in the old days.
Apparently during the transition there wasn't anyone clearly in charge and the girls and we had free run of the place. We had a good time, and on the last day of my trip I ran into the new owner who said there would be some changes.
He suggested that the setup with the girls might change a bit, and also mentioned lower prices at the bar. While I don't drink that much I am sure no one will complain about cheaper beer.
It's also been suggested that taking photos and publishing about fun at places like HLH might be a thing of the past. To be honest I hope that's not the case because I have always felt that Photos and Video are part of the fantasy of coming to Costa Rica.
Of course if the folks at Hotel Little Havana don't want to allow photos on premises, then there is nothing wrong with asking the girls for their phone numbers or taking them out of the bar. After all places like Hotel Little Havana just operate as motels, and there is nothing wrong with making dates with the girls who hang out there.
In fact I used this last trip as an opportunity to get some photos of Pamula, Karen, and her sexy cousin back at my hotel. It's difficult to get as many girls together but you can sure have a good time, which is really what Costa Rica is all about.

The drink prices were pretty high. The rate I believe was $55usd for an hour, room and girl, $25usd for an hour if you had a room there. I wonder if the discount will go away. Those were just the "special gringo price" the bartender told me back in April.......
I have it from a reliable source that they had charged c1500 ($3) for a beer at HLH. Let's see if there is more to come.
If Eddie was the guy selling fake cuban cigars in the cigar shop in the front of HLH, watch out where he goes, because he sells FAKE Cuban cigars. RRS

What did you buy?
I asked the guy working the front if the cigars were cubans, or cuban seed grown somewhere else. He said he didn't know. $3 would be for an Imperial.......you would pay more for a heineken. Most expensive beer I have bought in San Jose thus far. I still liked the place, just didn't drink much while I was there!
When I brought the fakes back, he immediately cut one open and saw it was not premium long leaf and immediately gave me my money back. Which I held up to the light. I smoked one and could tell it was not real. I should have known just from the spongey consistency of the construction of the cigar. I bought them because I thought the guy was legit. I've been smoking Cubans for 30 yrs. I know what they taste like. I am also a tobacconist which is why I said that. Go to the cigar shop around the left corner from the Balmoral hotel. They have real Cubans. RRS

FIRST YOU CAN NO LONGER TRUST THE STAFF THERE!!!!! the girls are still great there. drink prices have now been reduced. the Rate is $35.00 for an hour if you stay there! They also charge Guest fee of $10 if you bring a girl in! THE CLEANING STAFF WILL ROB YOU!!! My buddy and I went to Jaco beach for a day and appearantely someone took his Credit Card and used it to purchase $1000 dollars in stuff, and then returned the card as if nothing happened know we will be gone the whole day!! My friend recieved a call from American Express regarding the charges, AND ALL THE CHARGES OCCURED WHILE WE WERE AT THE BEACH!!!!!...The new owner said he doubted that his staff is that smart!! WTF???? The staff is very unhappy with the new management.....BOTH ED AND ROGER HAVE QUIT!!!
This is not a surprize to anyone, there are alot of unhappy ex-employees of HLH - you can find most of them hanging around the Sportsmans, they love to talk about the way they were treated at HLH - it's been pointed out many times in the past, an unhappy girl makes for an unhappy employee, OH !! thats right there not employees, that be "pimping" they just happen to be there when you rent the room and they just happen to give half the money they make to the management, and if they aren't real happy with the place and feel like moving on they just might take something with them (like your credit card) your don't trust them, and why in the world would anyone give some clip joint like HLH your money and pay their inflated price's when anyone of the girls will just come to your hotel for the same price (and they keep it all ) whice helps stop some of the upsale, and you don't have someone banging on the door yelling "times up" -- most of the girls become rip off artist by working for a rip off artist - the format used at HLH didn't work and their mistakes have lead to the sucess of place's like the Sportsman
